The operation of the system is based on preliminary optical processing of images of freely falling hot glass drops, the input of a video signal to a computer, the analysis of a video stream in real time, the allocation of geometric information, the calculation of the volume and mass of drops, and statistical processing of the results. The system is of low cost and is used in the current production of glass bottles.

The scanning system is designed for precise non-contact measurement of 3D surfaces and data entry into a computer.

The device is intended for automated high-speed, high-precision non-contact measurement of the surface profile of fixed objects.

The principle of the device is based on the use of structured illumination and the triangulation principle of detecting light scattered by an object. The observed 2D image contains distortions encoding information about the third coordinate.
